Irish country-pop sensation CMAT will perform on July 12 on the NOS Stage at NOS Alive ’25.

CMAT, whose real name is Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, is an Irish singer-songwriter celebrated for her witty lyrics and storytelling, uniquely blending pop, country, and folk influences. She gained popularity for her humorous yet introspective songwriting, addressing themes like love, heartbreak, and personal struggles with a lighthearted yet poignant touch. Her debut album, If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, released in 2022, was widely acclaimed and significantly expanded her fan base.

Known for her charismatic style and vibrant, retro-inspired aesthetic, CMAT’s music is often compared to the sounds of Dolly Parton, Kate Bush, and Lily Allen due to her quirky storytelling and emotional depth. Her lyrics, filled with references to pop culture, modern life, and her Irish roots, add a unique charm to her work.

Crazymad, for me (2023), her second studio album, is described as a reflective breakup album that explores complex emotions with time and perspective. Inspired by Sheena Easton’s “9 to 5 (Morning Train),” the album captures the duality of longing and frustration. The evolution of her vocal style on this album highlights the clarity and emotional honesty in every song. CMAT’s growing success has earned her a loyal following, solidifying her as one of the most refreshing voices in today’s indie-pop and alt-country scenes.
