FOSTER THE PEOPLE
12 JUL . Heineken Stage .
Foster The People have been confirmed for the 17th edition of NOS Alive. Mark Foster and Isom Innis’ band will take to the Heineken Stage on the third day of the festival, July 12, at Passeio Marítimo de Algés.
Mark Foster has found a new creative starting point with Paradise State of Mind the latest album by Foster the People. During a trip to the UK in 2022, the musician reunited with his former collaborator Paul Epworth at the iconic The Church studio in London, and without much expectation began to explore new ideas. The album’s title came about on the first day, with the main track being created in partnership with Epworth and singer Jack Peñate. That moment unlocked Foster’s creativity, and he set out to create a personal cathartic experience and a space of healing and joy for listeners. Inspired by the musical innovation of the 70s and 80s, Foster incorporated elements of funk, disco, gospel and jazz alongside synthesizers and orchestral arrangements to create a rich, multi-faceted sound.
With collaborations between The Church in London and the legendary East West Studios in Los Angeles, the album was recorded in historic studios, striking a balance between analogue authenticity and modern groove. Songs like “Lost in Space” and “Glitchzig” stand out for mixing danceable melodies with introspective lyrics, while the album maintains a hopeful vibe at its core. In addition to the sonic reinvention, Paradise State of Mind marks a personal journey for Foster, who has faced significant changes in his life, including sobriety and a deeper connection with himself. This transformation has allowed him to create an album that celebrates simplicity, spirituality and the power of music as a vehicle for hope and healing while maintaining a pulsating energy that invites dancing and celebration.
