girl in red is the first confirmation for the NOS Stage on the second day of NOS Alive’25.
Marie Ulven, from Oslo, continues her journey to global stardom. Her second album, I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY! released in April 2024, marked the beginning of a new era in girl in red’s career, with this being her debut with a major label.
girl in red gained recognition and won the hearts of the public when she released her acclaimed debut album, if i could make it go quiet in 2021. Critics and fans embraced her honest lyrics, disarming personality, powerful live performances and musical talent. Among her famous admirers are Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. The press response was overwhelmingly positive, with several media outlets considering the album and the single, “Serotonin”, as one of the “Best of 2021”, including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Variety, NPR, Stereogum, NYLON, among others.
2022 started with a nomination for Best New Alternative Artist at the iHeart Radio Music Awards. It was a well-deserved achievement, considering that she was the most-played female artist on Alt Radio with “Serotonin”. The song reached #2 and stayed on the Alt chart for 30 weeks, 21 of them in the Top 10. Currently, “Serotonin” has accumulated more than 176 million streams, which make up more than 5 billion global streams. Also that year, and as a thank you to her fans, girl in red released an independent track entitled “October Passed Me By”, a sequel to her beloved song “we fell in love in october”. The song, created in partnership with Aaron Dessner, was released with a short film directed by Gustav Johansson, featuring renowned Norwegian actresses Lisa Loven Kongsli and Ruth Vega Fernandes.
In 2023, she was personally chosen by Taylor Swift to open her groundbreaking The Eras Tour, worth 1 billion dollars. As well as accompanying Taylor, she toured the UK and Europe on her own, including a sold-out concert at the Hammersmith Apollo.
