Sum 41 take to the NOS Stage on the last day of the 16th edition of NOS Alive.

The iconic Canadian punk rock band is returning to the forefront of the music scene with the highly anticipated release of their new single “Landmines” in October this year. This new song offers an exciting preview of the group’s next album, scheduled for 2024.

“Landmines” isn’t just a song; it’s a testament to the determination to face adversity for loved ones, as expressed by lead singer Deryck Whibley. The catchy chorus is accentuated by powerful drums, resonating with the same intensity as the landmines, the metaphor that gives the song its name. The video accompanies the song, transporting us to a 1998 graduation ceremony transformed into a rock show, an allegory of the band’s early career.

“When I wrote ‘Landmines’, I didn’t intend to create a song in the traditional ‘pop punk’ style. The music just flowed quickly, and I immediately felt it had something special,” Whibley tells us.

Looking back over the band’s memorable 27-year career, Sum 41 have firmly cemented their place in rock history, with over 15 million records sold worldwide, multiple Billboard chart entries, a GRAMMY® nomination, 2 Juno awards (and 7 nominations), a Kerrang! Award in 2002, multiple Alternative Press Music Awards and countless other honors.

The release of the album All Killer, No Filler in 2001, the likes of “Fat Lip”, “In Too Deep”, “The Hell Song” and “Still Waiting” turned the band into one of the biggest punk rock references of the 2000s and one of the 10 most commercially successful Canadian bands.
