AURORA, the Norwegian alternative pop sensation, makes her debut on the Heineken Stage on July 12th of the 16th edition of NOS Alive.
“Your Blood” is the artist’s latest single, released at the beginning of November. It’s a cathartic song with synthetic influences that marks their first work since their third album, The Gods We Can Touch which reached the Top 10 in the official UK album chart.
Co-written, produced and recorded by Chris Greatti (Gaga, Willow, Yungblud, Grimes) in Los Angeles and mixed by Mitch McCarthy (Olivia Rodrigo, Lady Gaga, Conan Gray), the song shows her vulnerability in an ode to the human soul, celebrating vulnerability, emotions and flaws. “The world is always bleeding. And we never know what’s going on under people’s skin. I believe that it is only when we get close to each other that we understand compassion and the beauty of what we are capable of as human beings. Even if we can’t understand what people are going through: we should try. If we don’t, what is the true value of a life? Sometimes, addressing our own pain, or the pain of the world, hurts so much that it feels like we’re dying. But, in fact, I believe that this is the moment when we are born. Your blood. My blood. Our blood,” explains the artist.
Since 2014, the artist’s global fan base has grown monumentally, captivating a new generation through social media and world tours, with her striking, upbeat lyrics and unique stage presence. Raised surrounded by forests and mountains near Bergen, Norway, Aurora Aksnes has turned her individuality, independence and strength of spirit into platinum albums, with over a million sales, 12.4 million monthly listeners, and 10 billion streams.
The multifaceted pop artist is admired by many of her peers, from Troye Sivan and Doja Cat to Katy Perry and Shawn Mendes. By the age of 12, she had already written “Runaway”, a song that later became part of her debut album All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend and which inspired another 12-year-old, Billie Eilish, to make her own music. Her singles “Cure For Me”, from her latest album The Gods We Can Touch and success Runaway from 2016, went viral on TikTok, bringing the artist’s cinematic and engaging melodies to a wider audience than ever before, hitting the singles charts around the world and accounting for over a hundred billion views on social media.
With a debut book and four studio albums, along with an Oscar nomination (for the song ‘Into the Unknown’, from the movie Frozen II), AURORA’s success seems limitless. “Your Blood” marks a new era for the young artist, inaugurating another chapter in her distinctive and constantly evolving journey, and her debut on the Heineken Stage on July 12, at the 16th edition of NOS Alive.
