Irish country-pop sensation CMAT will make his debut on the Passeio Marítimo de Algés on July 12 on the Heineken Stage at NOS Alive’25. Already confirmed for this day are the Americans Future Islands.
CMAT is Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, an Irish singer-songwriter known for her witty and narrative lyrics, blending pop, country and folk influences in a unique way. The artist has gained popularity for her humorous and introspective approach to songwriting, tackling themes such as love, heartbreak and personal struggles in a light-hearted yet poignant way. Her debut album, If My Wife New I’d Be Dead, released in 2022, was widely acclaimed and grew her fan base exponentially.
Recognized for their charismatic style and vibrant aesthetic with retro influences, CMAT’s music is often compared to the sound of Dolly Parton, Kate Bush and Lily Allen, due to their combination of quirky storytelling and emotional depth. Her lyrics, with references to pop culture, modern life and Irish roots, give her work a unique touch. Crazymad, For Me (2023), their second studio album, is described as a reflective break-up album, exploring complex emotions with time and perspective. Inspired by Sheena Easton’s “9 to 5 (Morning Train)”, the album captures the duality between desire and frustration. The evolution of her vocal style on this album emphasized the clarity and emotional honesty of each song. CMAT’s growing success has won her a loyal audience, cementing her as one of the most refreshing voices on the indie-pop and alt-country scene today.
In 2025 he will make his big debut at NOS Alive’25, with a unique and unmissable concert on the Heineken Stage on July 12. Get your tickets here.
