Johnny Marr, former member of The Smiths band, is one of the great highlights of NOS Alive’19 confirmations. The British guitarist joins the line-up on the second day of the festival, on Sagres stage.
Johnny debuted his solo career with the album “The Messenger” in 2013, with this new aptitude as a singer, the audience and criticism were surrendered to a new facet. A year later he launches “Playland”, in 2016 publishes his autobiography “Set The Boy Free” where he portrays his entire past and in 2018 releases his latest and third album Call The Comet “.
About his projects and this solo trip the musician says that “Everybody who knows about rock music knows who I am,” and still states, “They know what my values are. So They don’t need my songs to be any kind of exposition. They want good riffs, and good singing, and good guitar music. ” Songs like “Walk into the Sea”, “Hi Hello” or “A Different Gun” from their last work, exhibit their most emotional and personal side.
In addition to former member of the Smith, alongside Morrissey, Johnny Marr participated in bands such as The Pretenders, The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse, and The Cribs. Since then, he has been working alongside names like Talking Heads and the German composer Hans Zimmer.
Considered one of the best guitarists of all time by the American magazine Rolling Stone, became a benchmark in the world of music and bands like Oasis, Coldplay and Radiohead have already expressed their admiration for Johnny.
