Xinobi Live is the new confirmation for the day July 6th on the Heineken Stage of the 15th edition of the festival.
Xinobi is part of a generation of electronic music artists who grew up in the midst of the eruption of music blogs, fueled by the ethic of do it yourself that the punk rock school brought him. Together with his friends Moullinex and Mr. Mitsuhirato, he created the influential Discotexas, an ever-changing label and artist collective.
With releases on his own Discotexas but also on Anjunadeep, Frau Blau, Radiant, Monaberry, TAU and MoBlack, he has built a singular, diverse and imaginative universe that allows him to move easily between the more orthodox House and Techno, but also to escape from the expected, for example through classical music, as when he edited a rework of Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” on Deutsche Grammophon or Fado as in the song “Fado Para Esta Noite” with fado singer Gisela João. The remixes he has done for artists like Moullinex, Awen, Joris Voorn, Adam Ten, O Terno, John Grant, Nicolas Jaar are also symptoms of his creative range that also led him to release dozens of singles and three albums.
2014 was the year he made his feature debut with 1975 in what can be considered a rehearsal of various house music aesthetics based on the influences that his passion for Ennio Morricone and Angelo Badalamenti’s soundtracks brings him; but also on Jamaican Dub and 60s Surf.
In 2017 he released his second album On The Quiet from which came the hit ‘Far Away Place’ in partnership with Vaarwell and a great underground anthem: “Searching For” that unites him with the poet Lazarusman. This album tells a story about the transition of many musicians from punk rock to electronic music; from skateboarding to house music; and about how dance music can be a space for social awareness and debate.
In 2022 he launched Balsame which is based on idiosyncratic derivations of house music and tells us about healing and building together; unity and communion, realistic utopias, equal rights, and pacifying perspectives for humanity.
2023 will serve as a more pure and hard dance music-oriented moment with 3 EPS ready to come out even before the summer. “Anguilla Buella” in collaboration with Meta_, “Dinosaurs” and “Waiting for”. Tickets for the 15th edition of the festival are available here.
