Benson Boone is on his way to becoming one of pop’s top new names. The Washington-based artist captured attention in 2021 with his debut single “Ghost Town”, which entered the Billboard Hot 100.

Recently, he released his debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades, standing out with the global hit “Beautiful Things”, which topped the Billboard Global 200. For Benson Boone, Fireworks & Rollerblades has several meanings. The title of his debut album comes from one of his favorite lyrics, reflecting his meteoric rise. “The last two years of my life, since I started writing and releasing music, have gone by so fast and have been so unexpected,” explains Boone. “I never thought my life would be like this two years ago. Everything has happened so quickly, and it reminds me of fireworks strapped to skates, like a rocket taking off.”

Influenced by artists like Billy Joel and Adele, whose voices dominated the songs, Boone discovered his talent in 2019 by taking part in a band competition. In 2021, he was discovered by Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons and signed to Night Street Records. After two years of writing, the album began to take shape with the song “Hello Love”. Fireworks & Rollerblades is a collection of songs that Boone considers authentic and personal. He worked with producers and writers such as Jack LaFrantz and Evan Blair, creating tracks such as “Beautiful Things” (a global hit) and “Slow It Down” (a reflection of his desire to slow down and be present). Boone also wrote emotional songs like “Cry” and the piano ballad “Love of Mine,” showing a vulnerable and nostalgic side. “Something I deeply believe is that I can write a good song, but with the people involved in this album, I can create something even better,” says Boone.

July 10 is the debut of the new pop sensation on the NOS Stage at NOS Alive’25, alongside the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan. Tickets here.
