Global sensation Olivia Rodrigo is the first major confirmation for NOS Alive’25. The record-breaking singer-songwriter will perform on the first day of the festival, July 10, on the NOS Stage, after concluding her GUTS World Tour, which had an impressive audience of 1.4 million people, making it the most profitable tour by an artist born in this century.
After breaking records with their debut album SOUR which topped the charts and was certified Platinum 4x – the fastest album in history to have all its tracks certified Platinum by the RIAA or more – Olivia Rodrigo has made a monumental comeback with her second album, GUTS leading The New York Times to describe her as “a songwriter of quite astonishing purity”.
Praised as an “instant classic” by Rolling Stone, GUTS debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, coinciding with the lead single “vampire” returning to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and Olivia reaching No. 1 on the Artist 100, guaranteeing her a trifecta of top rankings. Rodrigo is the first female artist in almost a decade to debut her first two albums at the top of the Billboard 200 and the youngest artist in Hot 100 history to debut three No. 1 hits (“vampire” and the SOUR hits “drivers license” and “good 4 u”). The remaining 11 GUTS tracks were in the top 40 of the Hot 100. GUTS topped the album charts in over 13 countries, including the UK.
The album, which appeared on more than 30 Best of 2023 lists, including those of The New York Times, Rolling Stone, NPR and Pitchfork, received GRAMMY® nominations for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, while “vampire” received three nominations and “ballad of a homeschooled girl” was nominated for Best Rock Song.
