Hailing from Montreal, Canada, in the early 2000s, they quickly gained a reputation for their transcendent live shows that brought arena-sized ambition to stages of all sizes. At the end of the tour in support of the 2004 debut album, Funeral – widely acclaimed as one of the best and most important albums of the 2000s – the band’s live experience was already raising thousands of voices in unison at every show, as the band found themselves sharing stages with artists such as U2 and David Bowie.

Titled in homage to the memories of family members, the cathartic confrontation of tragedy and the band members’ affirmative celebration of life, love, hope and Haitian roots, Funeral has only grown in stature over the years. The album was named #1 of the 2000s by Rolling Stone and topped Best of the Decade lists around the world, including NME, Q, Pitchfork, The Guardian, Mojo, Spin, Consequence, Paste and others. The group’s subsequent albums, Neon Bible, The Suburbs, Reflektor and Everything Now have earned the band three worldwide #1s, nine GRAMMY nominations (including a win in 2011 for Album of the Year for The Suburbs), four Juno Awards (including three for Album of the Year), a BRIT Award for Best International Album, as well as an OSCARS® nomination for the original soundtrack for the movie HER.

WE (2022), Arcade Fire’s sixth album, is a 40-minute epic that now arrives on the NOS Stage at the 16th edition of NOS Alive, on July 11, 2024.
