Blasted Mechanism are the new headliners for July 13 on the NOS Stage at NOS Alive’24! The Portuguese band joins Pearl Jam, Sum 41, The Breeders, Sofi Tukker, Alec Benjamin, Khruangbin and The Cat Empire on the last day of the festival.
Born in 1995, the iconic Blasted Mechanism are a band currently made up of Valdjiu, Guitshu, Fred Stone, Riic Wolf and Ary. With more than a dozen albums out, they have already won a Golden Globe and received three nominations for MTV Best Portuguese Act. They have played on the biggest stages in Portugal and many others abroad, but they continue the tradition of playing at NOS Alive, having been on the festival stage in 2007, 2012, 2015 and 2018, with a concert that marks the beginning of the preparations for the celebration of Blasted Mechanism’s 30th anniversary.
On May 24, they are preparing to release their rarest album, Balayashi, in digital format. This 5-song EP, released in 1996 and only sold 10,000 units, was immediately acclaimed by the national press and features the single “Atom Bride Theme”, a classic that defined Blasted Mechanism’s organic Techno.
Unmissable in Portuguese music, fusing rock with electronica and elements of various traditional world musics, Blasted Mechanism represent an avant-garde and inexhaustible force of entertainment, a non-conformist way of being in life.
On July 13, the group’s 30th anniversary celebrations will kick off on the NOS Stage.
