The Americans Khruangbin have been confirmed to perform on the Heineken Stage at NOS Alive’24 on July 13th. This is the trio’s first time at Passeio Marítimo de Algés.

Khruangbin, formed by bassist Laura Lee, guitarist Mark Speer and drummer DJ Johnson, are known for fusing diverse musical influences such as East Asian surf-rock, Persian funk and Jamaican dub, the Houston-based band infuses an emotional sincerity into their transportive musicianship.

Mordechai, their third studio album, will draw inspiration from the band’s return home after an extensive three-and-a-half-year tour. Laura’s personal renewal, influenced by a walk with a friend called Mordechai that became a transformative experience, introduced vocal elements, adding a new thematic depth to Khruangbin’s expansive musical landscape.

Mordechai explores themes of memory – holding on to it, letting it go and giving it a name before it fades. The songs also delve into the importance of enjoying the journey, drawing on personal experiences, such as the lead single “Time (You And I)”, capturing the essence of the last few hours of a festival. Houston, the band’s eclectic and welcoming hometown, becomes a central theme, celebrated in tracks like “H-Town”. Musically, Khruangbin continue their global exploration, incorporating influences from Pakistan, Korea and West Africa. The album is not just a musical moment, but a reflection on that same journey, providing a deep breath, a moment of beauty and a memory to revisit – a message that echoes now more clearly than ever.
